  1. I have a movie file that plays with the DivX player.

Its a 500MB file with the extension .divx so it only plays
with the DivX player when I'm connected to the internet.

Is there a decryption tool available to work with this file
much like DVDdecrypter works with DVD ?

Ideally so that it is converted into an AVI and I can play
it when not connected to the internet.

I appreciate that this is probably a very tall order but
    I had to ask.
    Thanks in advance

    regards

  2. DivX is AVI. Rename your file from .divx to .avi and it should play fine in Windows Media player. If you still have trouble, download the free DivX codec (link here) and it should all work fine.

    Hope this helps,

  3. Or you can set up your media player of choice to handle .divx files and never have to worry about the stupid divx player again (connected to the net, wtf?)

If this is a file that is protected by DRM licensing, merely changing the extension isn't going to help you circumvent the problem. You won't get any help here with this, as it violates the forum rules.

  5. Thanks for the responses. I think this last post from
teegee420 tells me what I needed to know.

The *.divx file is a movie download with a 30 day lock on it
so I guess there's no way around it

    What does DRM stand for?
    Thanks in advance

    regards

Digital Rights Management, effectively just another term for copy protection.
