Hi,
I recently got a Lite-on LDW-411s DVD writer, and i am new to the world of burning and i have a problem. The drive is set up on a USB connection but i can't seem to get burn speeds over 650kb/s (0.5x) so its taking about 2 hours to write a disk. I have DMA enable on all drives and i am using ritek G04 media. And i have no problems with the disks, there have been no errors yet but i just can't get it to write any quicker, any suggestions would be greatly welcome
Thanks
Paul.

The drive is in a enclosure if it's set up by USB. I would suggest you update the firmware in the drive. If that doesn't help then I would suggest you get a FIREWIRE enclosure. For some reason a firewire one seems to run better than a USB one. To update the firmware go to:

If it's USB1.1 that's only rated for 11 Mbps which is 1.37 MBps - about 1X on a DVD burner ...under ideal conditions. It could be that something is sharing the USB port and slowing it down. If it's supposed to be USB2 then it sounds like a driver issue either with the PC or the enclosure, and it's reverting to USB1.1.Originally Posted by budz
