Last night I set up ffmpegX to convert a program stream from a ripped DVD to the fast DVD preset. The only thing I changed with the preset was that I unchecked Decode with Quicktime (for some reason, even though I have the latest version of QT Pro, it gave me an error in reading the file).

I woke up this morning and my computer was crawling. The Progress window gave me a beach ball when I had the cursor over it, even tho the progress of my task was Finished. I opened up the Activity Monitor and it was fluctuating between 70 and 102% of the CPU.

Does this mean anything, like wrong with the file or my system? I could set up the same job again and give you the detail results and more info if you need it. I'm just curious as to why this is going on.

  2. I never got this before, but if you see it happen again, please keep enough information so as it can be made repeatable.

I'll re-do the operation tonight and see if I can get it to happen again.

Any information you'd like for me to get before I start it?

More data: I've had something similar when I queued two (or more) jobs and then, while the first one is processing, clicked the blue I on the _next_ item (the not yet started job). This produced the barberpole animation on the 2nd job's progress bar, but nothing seemed to happen. When the 1st job finished the 2nd job never started (but was using a lot of CPU). The 2nd job did not produce any files. I eventually force quit the progress app.

I was able to reproduce it last night. Unfortunately I closed the progress window without getting the details. Yeah I know, DUH. I'm stepping out for a few hours so I'll get back this afternoon and post the results.

Anything like my computer specs, haxies, etc. that you need.
