Does anyone here have experience with the ADS Pyro A/V Link capture box with a Mac? I'm considering getting one to capture DV from analog sources. I don't have a DV camcorder and don't plan to get one, and the capture device must be external because I'll use it with a G4 iBook.

I've read lots of reviews of the Formac, Canopus and DataVideo capture boxes, but not much about the ADS.

Yes, I have one and I tell ya, it's working out great for me. I use it mostly everyday cause I do a lot of editing for other people who wants me to edit their wedding, graduation, B-Day parties, etc... from VHS, VHS-C, etc.....

I've used the Formac device, and it does work but is very overpriced. Actually the audio capture is the best thing about it - the quality has to be heard to be believed. But its software is really bad. It's buggy, especially with external HDs, and clumsy. I always used BTV to do capturing with it.

So I doubt you'd gain anything for the extra expense of the Formac unit.

    Fantastic.
I had a Canopus, returned it and bought two
    of these. Very happy.
Sorry, I have not used it on a mac, (I'm PC), but since
this is an external Firewire device I don't think it's an issue.

Thanks for the feedback. After doing more research I've decided to get the new Canopus ADVC55. It is firewire bus powered and much to my liking.
