  1. I have a Lite-On DVD player (LTD-163). A few days ago it stopped playing any DVD. It plays CD's fine. It spins for about a minute then stops. If I click on the DVD icon it says to insert DVD. I've tried unplugging the power from the unit (maybe it has some sort of memory that needs to reset) and I tried to clean it. Any ideas? The drive is a little more than a year old.

    Thanks,

    Chris

  2. A Dvd Player with Cd capabilities uses 2 different read heads. One for each format. I suspect that the DVD read head is crapola......Terence

This might be barking up the wrong tree, but you could try rewriting the firmware

If a dvd player that could read both dvd's and cd's can no longer read dvd's. Wouldn't it cease to be a dvd player? Wouldn't it now be a cd player?

    ...mysterious...

  5. The LTD163 is a DVD-ROM drive not a standalone player - wrong forum, maybe
