  2. First on to your question: Have you tried any other programs for transcoding besides DVDShrink? Have you cut out any unneccisary audio streams? Any unnecessary extras and stuff?

I don't know... I was having trouble with a married with children dvd and DVDShrink, and I just used a different program and the quality was fine.

Fawlty Towers.. hehe does it have the one where they change the sign to Farty Towells.. that's my favorite episode.

  3. Back it up using a different method (dvd rebuilder, half the episodes with shrink as still frames).

You cannot compare DVDs like you're trying to. Just because dvd 1 has pixelization and dvd 2 has nothing to do with one having issues and the other not. If the dvd with more episodes was encoded by the studio at a lower bitrate, the picture quality may not be as crisp, BUT, it's not going to have pixelization because it was mastered to fit its low bitrate. Transcoding will pixelate the hell out of a source that has a very high compression. Lowering the bitrate (reencoding) will soften the picture and create a little more noise but probably eliminate the pixel problems.

Or if you want to stick to DVDShrink, just make the first 3 episodes perfect quality and the last 3 still frames. Then do a second disc where first 3 are stills, last 3 are perfect.
