  1. Hi everyone,

I use DVD Shrink 3.1 to make backup copies of my favorite movies. I usually use the Re-Author option because I really just want to copy the main movie and one audio track. Removing menus and extras also minimizes compression and thus improves picture quality.

This weekend, I made a copy of KILL BILL, but the subtitles (which are essential in this movie because some parts of the film are spoken in Japanese) were unfortunately omitted. Apparently, DVD Shrink 3.1 does not allow you to add subtitles when you use its Re-Author option.

Does anyone know of an EASY program I can use to keep only the properties of the movie that I want?

    Thank you!

    Ren

this has been discussed before in another thread and im heavliy sedated so i will tell you how i did my backup copy of the movie.

1.USE DVD DECRYPTER AND RIP IN FILE MODE TO YOUR HARD DRIVE.
2.USE DVD2ONE TO COMPRESS THOSE FILES YOU JUST RIPPED
    3.USE NERO TO BURN

do a search in this forum about keeping the subtitles for the kill bill vol.1 like i said im sedated and in no condition to look for that thread. good luck.

  3. I stumbled upon this site that has an explanation to the missing subtitle mystery;

    Forced Subtitles Missing?

DVDShrink only consider forced subtitles if they are flagged as forced on the DVD.

Unfortunately most DVDs don't have this flag, some have the forced subs in the main subtitle stream which isn't flagged as well.

Why can't you just go back to the original copy of Kill Bill and using shrink in reauthor mode, choose the main movie and keep the english subtitle?
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

    Jtoolman2000,

In Reauthor mode, you can keep the English subtitle by selecting Edit | Preferences from the main menu and then go to the Stream Selections tab and uncheck the box at the bottom. Furthermore, you can select English as your subtitle choice.

However, this alone will likely not solve the problem. Something with your DVD remote (top menu) should make it come out, but not sure.

  7. or you could just do the simpler method of ripping the full disc.
removing the DTS soundtrack from kill bill, and leaving menus ,extras,et al.
and there is is,a perfect disc,no degradation in quality.
or rip just the movie only, keep both 5.1 and DTS soundtracks, and get rid of the shitty extras,
    making of...yawn.
stupid bad quality shite jap music vids, and animated menus.

  8. Hi all.

For "Kill Bill" Region 1, you want "English #1", for the Region 2 "English #3".
In the left pane (DVD Structure) right-click on the title to access a menu.
It will let you choose what audio/subpicture streams you want to be played by default.
