I normally use Womble MPEG VCR for that. Click on the mpeg de-multiplexer button(hold your mouse over the buttons and a tool tip should pop up telling you the name of the button) and select your mpeg. Click save. This will seperate the video from the audio and create two files. Then click on the mpeg multiplexer button and select the mpv and mpa files for the video and audio respectively. Click the a/v sync button and add 1000ms, click ok and then save. If it's still out of sync you need to change the delay value. Click the help button for more info. There are probably other programs that are easier to use for fixing this problem but this is what works for me. If you still have more questions try and do a little research first. You'd be amazed what the search box at the top of the page can produce.

you know...on that x copy issue....I lost sight of what I was trying to do. My goal is to help people, not force my opinions of what I think is better. If something works for someone, then I will support it. I hope that explains my 180 degree turn on it. catch ya later.

  4. I browsed for my video in "input file". I selected my file and the save option is not available...

    Why?

And how do i fiugure out the exact time that the audio is ahead of the video by? rather than justt guessing that its 1 second off...

Are you sure you are de-multiplexing first? The window looks like this:

You can try and figure out the audio differential by opening the mpeg with Virtualdub MPEG2. Go to File>File Information and look at the audio and video time lengths. If they both match, you pretty much have to guess on your own. Keep experimenting and you'll get it.

  6. Yeah, I did that, and i selected my movie, but the output files dont come up when i select m yinput file....so i cant save....why??

Wait, do i have to make my own names for the audio and video files, and then save???
    - cuzthat works
Also, in virutal dub, it doesnt give me an audio length, but it gives me a video length of 50:15

For audio it only gives me # of frames, format, and total siez, but not length....

Try de-multiplexing with TMPGEnc. Go to File>MPEG Tools>Simple De-multiplex. Then try fixing the audio with Womble. If TMPGEnc doesn't work either I'm out of ideas. I normally don't bother trying to fix bad files. Not worth the aggrevation.

Like TeeGee said, open the file in VirtualDub MPEG2, click on "Audio" then 'Interleaving' then input a number (like 1000 for 1 second) in the box labeled "Delay Audio Track By". A positive number delays the audio and a minus number does the opposite. Play the file in VD and when it syncs it's correct. Take that 'delay number' to the other program.

    Good luck.

Try -0.200. If that doesn't work, experiment a little and you'll get it right.

Once you have the audio corrected and save as .mpg, yes, you can then have a go at authoring the DVD. Refer to the guide for instructions on how to use TMPGEnc DVD Author.

This process is fairly simple but it's going to take some time to get it right. ok.
    (1) Load the file in VD-MPEG2 like said above. Use VD's play button and watch lip movements while you listen to the audio. Determine if audio is 'ahead' or 'behind' the lips. The Interleaving command in VD in labeled "Delay Audio By" so---- if the audio is ahead of the lips it needs delayed, right? So input a positive number like 500 (1/2 second) and replay the file. Add (100) a couple times while checking the sync and see if it's getting better, if not then lower the number by 100 a few times. When you get close to sync add or remove 50 at a time, then 10 at a time until you are on sync. This is one of the best functions VD has and it is very accurate. The amount you will need is unknown. If you do it correctly you will find out the proper amount.... Write it down.

    (2) Once you are in sync at the beginning part of the file, skip to the middle and check it there, then to the end and check some more. Hopefully a 'single' correction will work for the entire file. If it does then...

    (3) Take that number to the other program discribed by TeeGee above. You must then note if the other program offers the same text as VD..... "Delay Audio By"..... If it doesn't "Delay" the audio then revert your number. I find I must do this when taking my VD number to Tmpgenc, I must reverse it for it to work correctly. If it's a positive number then I must enter a negetive number (-???). You might need to do the same thing here, I don't know that program.

    Good luck.

[edit] I just noticed above how teegee said to enter the number. It appears that 1.0 = 1 second, so 500 (1/2 second) looks to be 0.500 in that program. You'll need to convert your VD number to tenths(?). Hope this helps.

  26. On our Intranet site at work, we have all our instructional movies in DVD compatable mpeg2 format, that way users whom want to download something can burn it straight to DVD with no worries. Of course being an Intranet, means we do not have bandwidth issues....

  27. I d/l a movie and it came in .bin .cue format, I converted into an .mpg using ISOBUSTER...But how do I burn this to a dvd+r
Don't extract the movie with ISOBUSTER. Bin/cue is a CD image (video CD in your case) file. Use Nero's "Burn Image" function to burn a CD from the bin/cue files.
