I have a couple questions about using svcd2dvdmpg with an svcd
1) I am using Ulead to Author so I have chosen SVCD Bin-> PS \352 \ 1st header, which poops out an mpg when its done. If I view this mpg in any player it comes up with a 4:3 aspect ratio. If I author and patch the headers or author and then patch the entire file the ratio stays 4:3.
So my question is... at what point in the process should I be able to view the source and see the correct aspect ratio? After using svcd2dvd? After authoring? or After patching the headers (entrie file)?
I can't seem to get 16:9 using BIN->PS no matter what I do.
2) In svcd2dvd when you choose to patch the headers\file do I have to choose BIN->PS in the in\out section of svcd2dvd or does it matter since it is looking for vob files?
I had this all figured out a few months ago and didnt write it downlooked at some posts that seem to have similar issues

but they don't really have resolutions that pertain to my problem.
Thanks

Maybe aspect ratio isn't my problem... about 1\4 of the right side of the movie is missing on playback thoughout the process. I tried using 720 instead of 352 as per the getting started section suggested, but that didn't work either.
Kinda funny cause there are a limited number of variables in svcd2dvdmpg and I think I have tried them all. Maybe the authoriing in Ulead is the culprit... Oh and the Ulead I have is version 3, I forgot to mention that in my first post. -
Actually, once authored in Ulead using 720 1st header or entire file then patched 480\entire file works. Sort of. The size is right, the audio is right, however the movie "flickers" or "flashes" might be a better word. It's like a strobe effect. I can't preview the pre-authored movie in Ulead at all, although if I try to view the pre-authored mpg in divx player and move the progress bar past the starting point I can view it fine.
I guess I will search for a solution to the flicker problem. Hope my blabbing helps someone else out someday -
Hi Andy,
Did you ever find a solution to your problem (1/4 image missing). I'm experiencing the same problem though I was able to convert a few SVCd movies to DVD without a problem... don't know what happened.
Thanks

The 1\4 screen missing problem I solved by choosing a Horizontal rez patch value of 720 instead of 352. After patching the headers and authoring it worked.
The flicking problem I was getting was that SVCD I converted was PAL.
