  1. I've been using the hacked 2500 (1.07 beta 6,7,8) firmware and I noticed last night that with TDK media (RICHOJPN01) is making my standalone dvd player stutter at about the spots where the media burning goes from 4x to 6x and 6x to 8x. When looking at the burned surface of the disk, I can actually see the speed transition on the bottom of the disk. This is not as noticable on Memorex +R's. Is this my dvd player (Panasonic DVD-CP72S) or the media or the Beta firmware.

BTW, I think my dvd player maybe dirty since I'm starting to notice a pause at the layer break on production dvd's. This is something new, I hadn't noticed this before when the player was new.

This may not be a solution to ur probm but I was using the 1.07 hax FW also and started getting a lot of probm with my RiData (G04) that use to burn great at 4x but just fails at 6x or 4x with the 1.07b7. I reverted back to 1.06 and 4x and the Ritec are fine again. I didnt have probm's using the Memorex 4x at 8x but I didnt need the NEC to do 8x with the Ricohjpn01 since my Plex does those real good. Two bad disc burns in a row with G04 using the 1.07b7 fw. They fail to initailize correctly and just burn a small ring near the center and froze.

  3. So does it stutter at the same spot if you try it in your computers's DVD playback? or another DVd player?

You may also want to get DVD InfoPro and see what the media type is; whether it's Ricoh or CMC. It should burn both fine though.

  4. I have dvd infopro, the tdk is Ricoh and the memorex is cmc. I'll have to double check the stuttering on my dvd-rom. Didn't have the stuttering problem with the stock firmware at 6x, seems to have started with the beta at 8x. I have a more testing I have to do.
