I have made a lot of DVDs and have never had a sound problem (to speak of). Now I authored a DVD (The sound is present on the source video and in Tmpgenc DVD Author durring the editing process).

After authoring I can play the DVD with Power DVD from my hard drive and the sound is fine.

When I burn the DVD and play it on my computer the sound is fine.

But when I play the DVD there is no sound on the main movie.

I tried telling TDA (Tmpenc DVD Author) to re-encode the audio and it did not help. I even have the AC3 plug in and tried various settings with no change.

The clip that has the sound problem was recorded in the same way as the other clips accept for one small difference. Instead of going from my vcr to my ATI AIW 7500 card the audio (and video) are going from my vcr then through my Dazzle 150 and then to my ATI AIW 7500. I'm not actually using the Dazzle for this capture. I just have it passing through since I had it set up to use the Dazzle only on VHS tapes that are problematic.

I'm almost certain I can just bypass the Dazzle and this problem will not reoccur but I like the current set up since I can use the dazzle or not without unplugging and replugging a lot of wires. Plus I'd like to fix this allready done project rather than start over.

So...

What has the pass thru done to my audio that makes it incompatible with a set top DVD player?

How do I find info on my audio stream in order to troubleshoot things like this?

How do I fix?

Sorry for such a long one. Thanks for any help.
