  1. Just wanted to ask this if someone is familiar with it.

Is there any difference between either red or black and yellow RCA cables - connectors between VCR or DVD and TV?

My assumption - no, they are just there for easier hookup - easier to recognize.

They're all interchangable but I use red for audio right, white for audio left and yellow for video.

On expensive cables, yes, big difference. On cheap ones ... no.

  5. Lordsmurf, I assume that you mean there is difference on expensive cables between the video (yellow) and audio (red, white or black). Because in my opion there is no difference between the audio portion (just colour)

red and white cables are identical regardless of quality. as lordsmurf says, the yellow cable is often better on higher end cables. cables are like everything else in a system. you are only as good as your weakest link. high end equipment quickly expose cheap cables.

I think what LS means is that there is a big difference between expensive and cheap RCA cables. This is true for both audio and video.

The only difference in expensive cables is in the video cable. That and they look a lot nicer but you pay more for the look and brand than anything else.

Agree with what's stated above -> most definitely a difference with expensive cables.

As for cheap -> is the Video (yellow) thicker/heavier (larger diameter) than the red/white? If it is then it's probably better, if it's the same diameter then it probably the same quality...

The cable I'm using now for capping from the cheap VCR has a much thicker yellow cable (the three are formed into one flat cable) than the others - presumably better shielding.

There should also be a difference between a "normal" rca to rca lead and a "digital" one for using with your receiver, but i don't think there is really.....
