  1. Hello,

I've made a compilation with TMPGEnc DVD Author and i would to burn it with a Regional code.

I want my DVD only readable on Region 1 DVD players.

Is there a software or a method to do this ?

    Thanks for your help,

There was a long discussion regarding this over at the DVD Lab forums. The results are a little mixed, with some saying it is not part of the DVD-R/+R spec, some saying it can be done, and some saying it can only be done if CSS is also enable. Have a read here http://www.mmbforums.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=5160 to see if it helps.

  3. Thanks for your response,

I've found that DVD Shrink 3.1 is able to set a region code when burning the DVD in the Backup button.

Is there others softwares able to set it ?

Most of the high end authoring packages would be able to - think Maestro, scenarist etc. If you know what you are doing, you might even be able to change it using IFOEDIT.

My reading of the discussion I posted earlier does raise the question that even if DVD Shrink does set a region code, where does it set it, and will this be obeyed by all region locked DVDs ?

ONLY readable on Region 1 players? I'm afraid that is wishfull thinking. One spin through my(any) computer and the result is now Region Free in the hands of even a novice.

I wouldn't waste my time if I were you. I get Region 1/NTSC discs all of the time and I'm playing them here in Region2/PAL land. It's not worth the effort on your part....in my opinion.

When we download programs like DVDDecrypter or DVDShrink....they come to us pre-set to make the resulting rips region free....you can of course change that in the settings. The result will be a region free disc BUT that will not solve the NTSC/PAL problem...that is another hurdle that some need to cross now and then.
Of course now there are some DVD's that will not play in a region free DVD player....the player must match the discs region code.
I don't recall ever coming across one of those personally.
