  1. I previously had a Phillips burner that worked fine with all software: CDR-WIN, Nero, Fireburner, Easy Creator 4&5. I had no problems creating VCD's. The only problem was that it was REALLY slow. So I bought a Hewlett Packard 16X10X40 model number CD16RI.

It works fine with the software it came with, HOWEVER no other software recognize it as a burner. I can put written CD's in it and read them using Windows Explorer, but within the software it is not displayed as a burner.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated. More info on the burner can be found at:

    Thank You

I, too, had that happen to me. You may have to take it back and get another burner. I bought a HP for $110 that came with it's own, pritoritary burning software and no other software would reconize the drive. It just made music and data cds, no video or nuthin! That got me pissed! Luckly I found a Lite-On (BusLink over here) 16X12X40 drive that came with a costumized Nero for ten bucks more.

  3. Well I hope I don't have to take it back. I tried burning a music cd with it's own software and it works fine. The reason I don't awnt to take it back is because I got it from Future Shop at an INCREDIBLY low low price (and yes it is brand new).

Any other help/feedback would be greatly appreciated for I'm pretty sure I won't get the savings I did with this burner, for any other one.

    Thank You
