  1. Is there a way to copy a DVD that will play in all standalone DVD players?

  2. Yes, find a company that press DVD ROMs and make them copy it for you. To keep the costs down i suggest you use DVD-R and burn at 1x, thats the second most compatible way, as DVD-R is the format supported by the most older players.

assuming you mean using a dvd burner, the short answer is no.

the long answer is, DVD-R and DVD+R have varying levels of playability in the thousands of players out there. If the player is within a year or two old, you have between an 85-95% chance that it will work.

But the only way to be 100% compatible is to use a factory-pressed disc, not a burned disc.

  4. The answer is ....
    YES.
Make a 2 disk set, one burned on a +R disk and the other burned on a -R disk. Then any dvd player that will read a burned disk will play one of those disks.

So far though I never had a -R disk fail to be read that I had burned with Tmpgenc DVD authors built in burner.

Your burning software is just as much to do with if the disk is readable or not by various players it seems. Or at least it was.

  5. There are still many dvd players around that will not play any kind of burned disks, so your answer would be NO. Only DVD-ROM will play in all players and you cant make it at home. There are some companies doing it, in Philippines and Malaysia can be done quite cheap, but you would need to order MANY copies. Better forget it and stick to expensive DVD-Rs, should work in 93% of all players according to this site.
