  1. I recently updated my Toast 6 Titanium program to 6.0.5. I've been trying to back up and store some Quicktime 6.5 files using the "data" mode in Toast. Every time I tell the program to record to blank media, either right after the lead-in is done or about halfway through the burn, I get some variation of the following message:

The drive reported an error :

    Sense Key = UNIT ATTENTION
    Sense Code = 0x41, 0x40

Then the burn process stops and the program pretends it's done. By the way, I always go into the "advanced" menu and activate "buffer overrun." I'm using a Mac G4, 500 mhz, 576k RAM, OS 10.2.8, and a Pioneer DVR-106D external firewire burner.

What's up with this? Any ideas?

Try saving as an image first, and then burn (under copy tab). If that doesn't work it might be hardware related.

Go get another firewire case to test this,
but it most likely sounds like a bad FW controller board,
or a problem with the internal unit.

I had a similar problem with an external case DVR-103
a while back. Had upgraded from Toast Titaninum 5 to 5.21
( shows how long ago this was!) anyway, I was using sony 1x media,
and I got this error halfway through a 2.5 GB backup.
I assumed it was media, went and got some Apple branded media,
same thing. Pulled it, and put it into another FW case, and it worked fine.
Turned out to be the FW controller was bad ( I further tested this
by putting in a HD in place of the SD, and connected to the G4 and see
if it would mount.), and I sent the case off for repairs.
It was an ADS, and they warranty for 2 years.

Post back and let us know.
