  1. Sorry if I posted this on the wrong board I'm new but I have joining problems. I was hoping someone here can help.

I have 2 mpeg files that were created through tmpgenc which are the same bitrate & resolution etc and I just want to join them up into one long file.

I've read all the guides and checked out all the tools but I just need to know a final few things before I go ahead

mpeg2vcr - I'm assuming that as this is for dumping to hdtv resolution that I will loose some quality when I burn this joined file to dvd. If so is it that noticeable?

tmpgenc - this has a join & merge that works fine if the files match with bitrate etc. The only thing is that it dumps to svcd quality and I want dvd. Again just how noticeable is this?

I've either read or tried the other programs listed in the basic editing tools section of this site but can't find the right one for me. I need a piece of software that will take 2 dvd quality mpegs and turn it into 1 dvd quality mpeg file (I think thats mpeg2-dvd, or thats how I've seen it listed)

Any help would really give this newbie a great start on dvd burning!

(Again sorry if this is too basic a question, I just assumed that as it was a joining problem I'd post it here)

  2. tmpgenc mpeg tools will not change the bitrate or quality.

you need to select the project as mpeg-2 program and not svcd (since
the latter will just write in an svcd header, which is probably your problem).
