  1. Hello, To all

    Well as you can see i am all new to all of this so
    can someone tell me how do you know what file type
    you have before you start to make a copy to a DVD

    Also how do you go from say AVI to DVD like
    i just said new to all of this any help at all please
    & what software do i use to go from AVI to DVD

    hmmm what i should have said was this how
    do you know what file types are before you try
    to make a DVD

    off to the left there u'll find a lot of guides for this. if u have an .avi file and dunno what it is download gspot and it will tell u. as for converting to dvd use TMPGEnc or Mainconcept Mpeg Encoder, well those are what i use anyways. after that then u need to author the dvd (TMPGEnc dvd author, dvd-lab) then use whatever software u like to burn it.

    [edit] oh yeah, and its all about trial and error so hopefully u have patience

    Usually the file extension will tell you the file type, ie .avi, .mpg, .mov etc.

    Avicodec can test files as well, including mpegs.
