Since this is a bit of a controversial issue of late and their isn't really a set policy on it I decided to create a poll to gauge what the general consensus was.
So how do you feel about swearing on DVDRHelp?
I think that it's acceptable as long as it's not excessive (i.e every second word) or used to abuse other people.

It should be allowed, but only in small doses, and moderators should accept this board gets heated sometimes.
We're not all farm-boys with black hats and massive beards who refuse to use hair-dryers, we all come from different backgrounds.
Will Haytgpo, my real dad, told me to make a maximum of 5,806 posts on vcdhelp.com in one lifetime. So I have.

Can't resolve this issue without realizing "Tgpo" itself is a terrible word to say. Go out and shout it from your porch and see how many mothers come running out of their houses to snatch up their children to take them to safety, how mean-spirited watch dogs cower into their dog houses, how birds in the trees stop singing at the mere sound of it. Until we can remove that horrible sound from the tongues of men, swearing will always be with us.
Hello.

I think it should be allowed to a mild extent. Sometimes, you have to express yourself clearly using more colourful language. Anyway, the word "****" is an incredible word - see the following Public Service Video:

For some reason, this clip doesn't tell you when it's loaded. Watch your download rate to see when it's done.... And enjoy!

that was excellent, those pyhton boys have a lot to answer for!
I sometimes swear to accentuate my words - i find it almost a neccesity during non-vocal coomunication otherwise people wouldn't always understand your tone. (especially hard when i am being very english and drab/dry)

I swear as much online, as I do in real life, which isn't very much. I personally don't have a problem with swearing, unless it's excessive or used to verbally abuse another person.
I think putting a ban on swearing would be too restrictive.
Sometimes you just gotta get ******* creative, know what I mean?

I sometimes swear and I believe this be limited as when and where as appropriate.
On DVDRHelp.com is fine by me as long as it's not excessive.
I do find swearing at inappropriate places and times can be offensive such as on TV, on the radio, in the church, some clubs and in such public places where foul language as prohibited, not at the right place or not recommended.
This is out, in front of the children, in the workplace, to the boss, to the customers and so on.
Don’t blurt out to people who are sensitive to these types of profanities such as people who known to be religious for example.
I don’t think the F word should be allowed on the TV such as a popular evening drama series.
There was a report the other day in Australia when a number people complained on the F word used on Channel Seven all over the country. Check out: Channel Seven
This is another one on TV: TV Complaint
Swearing on the DVD movie and the music CD to me as acceptable as long as appropriate, too make sense and not too much.
This on a new music CD: 26 expletives on No 1
Someone on another online forum recently blurted out Jesus Christ and I found this as offensive. However foul language generally as out on that forum.
On that Australian online forum, any foul language isn’t tolerated and against the rules and the member in risk of being banned using such expletive.
The moderator of that forum can censor and delete the offending posts at any time without warning. He/she can as well sin bin that member for some days or indefinitely.
The DVDRHelp forums as much more relaxed as far as swearing is concerned and I don’t mind at all.I am a computer and movie addict

It's vary rare that I swear...in most cases it's done as parody or quoting someone or something.
I'm not offended by it at all - and hear it all the time everywhere.
I know some consider it bad taste, or whatever...but I don't have that attidude towards anything really. It doesn't bother me at all...if you use colorful language, that's a part of your personality.
I'd rather know what was really on someone's mind instead of living in a world of plastic smiles.
This is the Internet - I think people who can't accept how others talk shouldn't be online to begin with...I have a strong opinion about that.
This isn't AOL...and I personally can't stand that mentality.
But if you're one those types, AOL was made just for you - so go there and stay off the real 'net, since you can't cope with the real world :P
This also isn't a playground for your kids.

Glock,
"**** n a' it should be aloud" "up in europe and saw booby's".
What a post. Swearing is at least acceptable, here, yet your upbringing nudges you toward your next comment. Not tits, nor breasts, but "boobies". NOT a criticism, here. Just how different cultures are, and not the difference between Europeans, Americans, nor even Swedes, as Baldrick shows.
At work, for the past 40 years, it's been the norm to use "foul" language. The words don't mean anything, in that context. To use the same language outside work was just not done unless severely provoked. Same with the military, most of the movies you guys have seen are more or less accurate, in that respect.
Ah, well, boys will be boys, men will be men, and if you walked into a Lady"s restroom ( Loo, for you other guys), you might just be surprised at how they speak.
TGPO, for one, and no offense, comes across as a Southern Baptist, a Fundamentalist, and I would be surprised if he did not take a bit of umbrage at some of the language posted here. He has, however, refrained from firing at the language he does have to read. ( I base this on the umbrage you DID take on the Evolution/Creation thread, don't take it personally. You have your beliefs, I have mine, 'nuff said, not supposed to be religious.)
Cheers,
George
