  1. I just cannt seem to play these files with any success. Mainly they are either out of sync or the video is in slow motion or they freeze up or they dont play at all. I have probably installed too many codacs trying to fix it now. But anyone got any ideas?

Get rid of all the codecs, use Gspot to test your files and only install the codecs that are needed. Don't install codec packs.

If your only playing video files (not encoding) I would do as suggested above.........then install FFDShow, the xvid RC4 codec (do not associate FFDShow with xvid) and a media player than can decode mpeg2 (VLC/videolan or a DVDplayer). For your audio get the AC3filter.

Question to anyone: Does FFDshow handle the latest xvid codec releases yet?

I have both the latest xvid codec and FFDSHOW installed. I have never had a problem decoding xvid with FFDSHOW. Not even with files encoded by the latest xvid build(Koepi's).

Odd that. Anway if anyone has problems with FFDShow not playing later xvid's try doing as I posted above (as it does work)....unless its just an oddity of my system.

    JackMartinEF: Glad you fixed it.
