  1. I Buy them when they are on sale....

I lucked into them twice at Best Buy, $4.99 for a 3 pack w/cases, and $27.99 for a 25 pc spindle.

    I Like the Look...

I use them on Things like Home movies that I'm sending out to family members. Right now from camcorder tape. I think they'd be great blanks to use for 8mm & Super 8 that was transfered from film to tape (DVD) where you are going from film to DVD as a end result.

I'm still looking for the best way to convert the old family 8mm film.
    .. Hmmmm....

Now that I got a good deal on a P4 laptop used with firewire on it. I'm thinking I can cap from my Canopus to it striaght from the camera for best results. Then try and find a flicker filter? I'm thinking 1 hour format for the DVD. Second Option goto SP speed SVHS on my other camcorder and then cap.

Anyway, back to topic. I like the look, and everyone that's seen them likes the look too.
And of course what better way to diferentiate Movie Backups from TV Show captures.

    Cheers

Best Buy sells them in 25-spindles or 10-packs or 3-packs. BB had all of them on sale just recently, but not any more. They are 4x MCC discs. Seem to be good quality - I've burned several -R at 4x on Pioneer 106D with no playback problems. Not much of a bargain unless they're on sale. Someone reported they will also burn at 8x. The 3- and 10-packs are in full-size clear dvd cases (not the regular jewel cases).

That's why you wait for them to go on sale. I've purchased 5 3 packs(15 discs total) for 19.99 from buy.com and I got the 25 count spindle for 27.99 form best buy. At a little more thana dollar per disc, they're great. I've just purchased the dvd-rs and they've all been MCC. They look cool and burn great at 8x. (nec 2500a)

    Cheese-head :P

They're a bit pricey for backups, but if you wanted to make a DVD of your girlfriend's camcorder footage, for example, and give it to her as a stocking-stuffer or something, I think the style would score you some points.

I always liked those CDs that look like 45 RPM records too.
