How do I make the movie one single file?

I've been looking at some DVD ripping programs, and I was wondering which free one would allow me to remove everything but the main set of episodes(it's all anime), and get it down as small as possible without losing quality. I also need it to be decently fast and as the topic title says, get it as one single movie file. Also, is there a way to get it so each episode is a seperate file(so a four episode DVD would come out the other end with only four files.)? Thanks in advance.
