  1. I made a DVD using my philips recorder but it had some editional footage I wanted to remove so I was using DVD shrink to back it up on my hard drive so I could then edit it with TMPGEnc DVD author, over half way through backing up the DVD I get this message:

    Data error
    (cyclic redundancy check)

Everything stops, is there a way around this, I can live with the extra footage if I have too but just wanted a nice clean DVD.

I've also tried Decrypter and Smart ripper and they give and I/O error.

This DVD has no copyright protection or encryption so why is it giving me trouble?

Data error (cyclic redundancy check) is when the data cant be read due to a burn error, most likely cheap dvd or dust on it prior to burning. Not much you can to do to fix it except rip it with isobuster and ignore errors.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.
