I'm trying to convert a TV show I captured to MPEG-2 with an ATI All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro and MMC 8.9, but I'm running into audio sync problems. I think the problem may be that the audio is 48khz. The DVD quality preset in MMC defaults to 48khz, so I made another preset with the same video settings, but 44.1khz audio which I used to capture this file. If I play the file in WMP it runs just fine, no sync problems at all, but when I try to work with it in VirtualDub (version 1.5.10, MPEG-2 mod) it starts out in sync but gradually gets more and more out of sync. Which is what leads me to believe the audio is still 48khz, even though it says 44.1 when I check the file properties in VD. If anyone knows what I can do to rectify this problem I'd surely appreciate some suggestions. Thanks in advance!

if your original file is in mpeg format i wouldn't use vdub to edit. try womble mpeg2 vcr. there is a trial version that you can use to see if you like it. it works very well for cutting commercials out and is fairly quick. i have not encountered any sync problems editing with womble.

I tried Womble MPEG Video Wizard, and it works very well, thanks! The thing I liked about Virtualdub though is that it had a seek to scene change function. I don't see it in VW, is it not there or am I just not looking in the right place?

  4. It's not there but change the speed to F and you will be amazed how quickly you can find your scene change. Then use the step buttons to get to the exact right spot in just a few clicks.
