  1. I am trying to convert an AVI file using TMPGEnc. However, when I try to set it up, it goes way past a full DVD. I believe it is an audio issue that is causing it. The file uses XVID as the audio. What can I do???

what are you trying to convert it to? xvid is a video codec not an audio one.

You might want to check it with Gspot and see exactly what kind of audio. Length of the video also.

  5. i did check with gspot too see what type of audio it is. and i used videodubmod to extract the audio but it gave me an error about an improper VBR audio encoding in the source file. it says to decompress the entire audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. how do i do that?

First of all, what you have to do is this. The reason your getting that error is because the audio in your video file is actually in MP3 format. That's a no-no. Here is what you do:

Use a program that can extract the audio into a WAV file. (I use Adobe Audition 1.0)

Then, once the audio is extracted, open up TMPGEnc. Load in the avi file as your source when your going through the wizard, but where it asks you for the AUDIO Source, CHANGE the audio source, and direct it to the WAV file that you extracted.

Encode as normal, and the results should be beautiful.
