Problems burning data dvds. LG-4081B

The drive copies and burns video DVDs fine. No problems burning a 4.2GB acronis trueimage file to DVD+RW.

BUT...

It can't seem to burn a complete data (my downloads, files, photos etc) DVD. Using DVD+R for data. It writes the DVD to about 70-80% and then everything freezes. The drive status lights keeps flashing but WindowsXP is frozen apart from mouse movement.

It can't seem to burn a complete CDR either. Don't know whats going on. It can't be power because I have 430watter. Firmware updated. Its a slave on the 2nd IDE channel. The master being a LiteOn 40x12x48 burner. I've tried swapping them over to no avail.

Right now all I can do is copy DVD movies and burn my backup image files. I really regret buying this LG drive.

Anyone got similar problems?

I have a similar problem.
Everything was working fine for a couple weeks and i formated my PC.
After the format, everything's wrong with the drive. It kinds of hang and does the same thing has you when burning.

Still have a couple test to do before returning it.
i'll format again, this time using ASUS nforce2 drivers instead of nvidia's.
Then if it doesnt work again i,ll go try it in a friend PC ( he has a LG too)

Then i guess i'll return it if it doesnt work

Have you try forceaspi?

if you don't know what that is , do a yahoo search.

Yeah i tried forceaspi but didn't change anything.
Still haven't tried anything else though.
... i know, i'm lazy.
