  1. Just wondering if it was possible to do something like this.

Take a menu from one dvd,

take main movie vobs from another

    take subtitle streams from another.

And use an authoring program to put it all together? , ie link some of the buttons from the menu to play the subtitles?

Just an idea (there is a reason behind it! )

  2. Demux all the assets you need and make a new DVD with them. Sounds easier than it actually is but with enough time and effort it's doable. Vobedit can demux the movie assets. Vobrator for the menu video and audio assets. SubRip to extract the menu subpictures in BMP format.

  3. thanks for that, my idea is to back up my uncut kill bill, by taking an english menu, extras features disabled, the movie to be the uncut version, and to add some edited sus so they only appear during jap speaking. also either 5.1 or the DTS soundtrack, one or the other!

    Sound do-able?

  4. Yes but you're going to need a really good authoring tool. Bar DVD-Lab Pro I can't think of any that is cheaper than my car. You are going to need a tool that supports all layers of a menu (complete flexibility on the background, subpicture and the highlights, not predefined buttons and templates), that has access to the DVD commands and that supports subtitles.

I think this guy is trying to do the same thing but without the menus (which is way way easier)

Are you sure you need the menu? If you own or have access to a tool like Scenarist or Maestro it's not a problem but as I mentioned before, DVD-Lab Pro is the only affordable one with a free tial and it's still in Beta.
