  1. I have put 8 hours of tv captured mpeg1 video with my All-in-wonder card onto a DVD-R disc. It isn't officially a "DVD-authored" video disc. I just dropped them onto the DVD-R like a storage disc, much like dropping 100 mp3's onto a CD-R and playing them in the DVD player. The problem is that the background music that plays during the dialogue or these shows is way too loud and supercedes the spoken voices (it isnt supposed to). It is definitely in the foreground and the people's voices I am barely able to hear. The WHOLE thing is way too loud, actually. I have to set my TV to at least volume 4 or lower before it is at an acceptable level (I usually watch live TV on volume 12 out of 30).
I thought this problem might be due to the fact that these are mpeg1 videos captured with 48mhz audio instead of 44mhz. I thought that I read that mpeg's put onto a DVD-R had to be 48mhz, but I don't know...
Any help or advice would be appreciate!

The default record volume for AIW cards is ridiculously high and can cause clipping. To change it, click "run" on the start menu and enter "regedit". Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>ATI Technologies>Multimedia>Sound and double click "Record Volume". Decrease the decimal value as much as you want.

As for how to change the volume of your mpegs, you will want to do this before you start the authoring stage. Open the mpegs with Goldwave and adjust the volume by going to Effect>Volume>Change. Save as wav and use the wav in your authoring software.

I forgot that you put the mpegs on your DVD in data mode. Follow the same steps with Goldwave and convert the wav to mp2 with FFMPEGgui and then mux the new mp2 with the video in TMPGEnc by going to File>MPEG Tools>Simple Multiplex.
