Hehe, that's pretty cool. Not exactly seizure inducing for me but pretty damned annoying. Maybe it's the barrage of contrasting black and white that does ti for me.

Agreed, I'm on a 100Mbps university connection and it's virtually instant, and at peak times when it is busy it can take a second, that's all.

Edit - while I've posted in this thread, I may as well voice my opinion on the actual question. I like VideoHelp, it's a good place to be. A couple of things annoy me but I try not to let it show - it just lowers the atmosphere. -

there were only a few guides when i started out - there was basically one accepted way of doing everything, and that was it. you captured in vdub, no arguments. you encoded with tmpgenc, no arguments. you used dvd2avi to read dvd's, no arguments.
the site has become a lot more diverse and complicated. with all and sundry submitting guides it -can- be a tad overwhelming. even sefys guide has got complex, it's gone from a few simple pages showing dvd->vcd in TMPGenc, now it's a multi-megabyte wonderland! -
Any/all TGPO related crap. This includes poll entries and TGPO comments. F TGPO! F him in his stupid Ass!!!
Disclaimer: This post in no way reflects my desire to F TGPO in his stupid ass or anyone for that matter. This post also in no way reflects my distaste for TGPO as a person (I don't even know who he/she is nor do I care. I'm sure he/she is wonderful person with a loving family, and his/her parents love the fact they support their son/daughter by allowing them to live in their house and sponge of them.) -

The most obvious gripe I have is someone asking about a hardware problem, but doesn't give any details. Filling out your PROFILE is only common sense, and would show respect to the other members.
Think about what you want to say, then proofread your post for completeness. The more info you give on the first try results in quicker detailed answers/suggestions. -
The only bad thing about VideoHelp.com is the attitudes some people have sitting behind a cool avatar and the fact they have posted 32,000 messages.
How dare you ask what a DVD is... didn't you do a search and find 500 threads associated with that question. Instead of taking the time writting a "jeez your a F%&#@ newbie" (so you can get yet one more post counted) go find another thread you can add some valid comments to.
This is not directed to anyone in particular. I really think the content, people and support in this forum is top notch and second to none.
Thank You Baldrick for your ongoing efforts. -

Thanks in advance"
It's not the fastest. Everything they ask has already been addressed in the threads, or it's in the guides, if they'd only look there first. They have to wait 24 hours to post, so they should spend that time reading before they make their first post -
CapMaster, I agree that its gotta get old.. "What's a DVD?"
Before I became a member I must have read 2 dozen guides (and some of them twice)and read umpteen posts and other sites.
I admit some questions are rediculous (but ya' gotta laugh)... Here's some really rich kid or adult that just got a top of the line machine and don't have a clue what do next.
Although I have not been on the receiving end of some volatile responses I feel for some people that don't know the rules per se and then get slammed.
Thanks to all.... -
Trolls.
Especially ones that say "you're wrong" ... and then conveniently leave out the details about how to be "right"Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I didn't see it in the poll, but people who apparently never look at the guides, etc., before asking a simple question that they could have answered themselves easier. Sometimes I would like a smiley that is a red flashing arrow that said 'LOOK HERE!'.

Some days I take pity and don't even mention the rules. I usually copy and paste from the guides, or put likns in my reply, and they're always extremely grateful. One newbie must have sent me 10 or 15 PMs thanking me profusely because I took the time to help him and didn't flame him. I felt bad that he was so nervous about getting flamed, but at the same time, from my perspective now, I can see where someone wouldn't be as patient and just fire away at the noob.
I try not to ever flame, but rather point them in the right direction. They'll never learn if you attack them, and it always makes you look stupid to sink to that level when there's no good reason -

But if you just go page by page on only the pages you need using what you need, why would it be complex ? the original guide is in there as well, it's just split to pages, so it's faster to load, and you concentrate only on what you need, don't you thinkEmail me for faster replies!

well it's like comparing a 3 page pamphlet "how to make a VCD" to a 200 page text book "Video creation" there's a lot more info but it's not as "in your face" as the short version. it requires the user to make decisions rather than just do as they're told
-
But for those who want the "A to Z" approach, i've included lots of those type of guides IN the mainpage for access. That's what is called "Classical Guide" since they only cover from start to finish using specific tools.
The "Complete" guide is for covering all programs, using what can be used in each step, instead of saying "I don't have that program, so the guide is not right for me" as in giving you a lot of alternatives, so you don't get stuck.
Is it not better that way ?
No one ever comments, and I only tried to make it as simple as possibleEmail me for faster replies!

i'm not saying there's a problem, and considering the amount of info in there and the sheer number of programs detailed (i haven't even heard of half of them!) it's set out in a logical way. it couldn't be any easier to navigate - can't say fairer than that! all i meant is that the whole topic seems to have exploded in the last two years, not a bad thing
-
hate users who flame someone for asking a question.
Just because you don't think it's a valid question doesn't mean your right.
it's very simple, If it pisses you off that much, don't answer it.
Bingo. Also hate noobs who simply WON'T check out the guides to the left, when it's really the easiest way to solve they're problem. -
Oh, in that case thanks
PS: Wait till you see v2.6 of the guide, reaching 70 programs now
That will be the last version of the guide so i'm putting everything I got into it and covering and completing all the final details, unless this time I get a personal request from users or I won't be updating it anymoreEmail me for faster replies!

flaninacupboard,
You are not the first to be surprised after mentioning Sefy.
For months and months he may stay away but the bare
mentioning of his name leads to shazam!!! ...and
in a puff of smoke he's here on the spot.
A bit spooky if you ask me:P
