Sony 536 Problem

Hi,

I have a sony dvp 536 about 2 years, but now the player don't play any original DVD, gives the "C:13:00" Error. Anyone has any idea for it?
Should i buy a new DVD player or fix this one?

This might be a late post, but I must warn you. Whatever you do, do not fix or buy another sony dvd player. They are nothing but trouble. I had the same player and had to get it fixed 2 times (warranty). Dont waste your time and buy another player. I now have a Pioneer player and its plays everything in perfect condition. Just my 2 cents.

Common problem on Sony DVD players. Read this from epinions:

"Granted, the DAV-S300 comes in a sleek package and it's easy to set up. There appears to be a serious flaw with several sony dvd players however, as I discovered when my DAV-S300 started displaying this C:13:00 error message. New disk, old disk, home recorded disk, clean disk dirty disk, it doesn't matter. Don't take my word for it. Go to GOOGLE and type in "sony C:13:00 error". The complaints on tech sites and message sites number in the thousands!"

Apparentely, there is a class action suit against them, and lots of pissed off customers.

You're better off with a cheapo Apex or Electrohome unit than this POC. I wouldn't pay to have it fixed, it's not cost effective if it's out of warranty. You could call Sony Customer Svc. (they're in Fort Meyers, Florida) toll free and try bitching, tell them you're aware that this is a common problem and how "disappointed you are as a Loyal Sony Customer to have purchased such a defective item" and be sure to state how many thousands of dollars in Sony product you've bought in the past year. Sometimes that works, sometimes not. Ask for a supervisor and keep calling until they get tired of you. Be persistent, it's your best hope.
