Why are you trying to use DVD X Copy to burn? Why not just use Nero or whatever you normally use to burn? DVD Shrink has done all the hard work for you. You will either have a VIDEO_TS folder with the files in it or a set of bup, ifo and vob files. If you have the folder already, just burn it to DVD, if you only have the files, burn them to DVD in a folder called VIDEO_TS.

Alternatively, if you have Shrink 3.1, let it do the burning for you.

  3. I am confused because as far as i can tell you cannot burn with shrink it only decryptes the files to a iso dir on the hard drive. I have bought the dvd xcopy last year and cannot return it so I am trying to find out how to burn with xcopy after using shrink to convert.

I would throw away dvd x copy. Dvdshrink will do everything. Dvd x copy is only for people who don't know any better.

dvd shrink and a burning program is all you need to backup dvds. you do not need dvdxcopy of you are using shrink, its crap anyways. after you run teh dvd through shrink and get the dvd file size down to 4300mb or whatever size you want to use, just open nero and burn the dvd files you just created. yes dvd shrink 3.1.7 can burn itself, but i dont like it, i use nero to burn.

  7. I am afraid that you are wrong about shrink it does not burn you have to use something like Nero or DVD Decrypter

    dvd shrink does burn

  9. All you need is DVDecrypter installed on your comp. When you get to the Backup DVD dialog box in DVDShrink version 3.17, just tick "launch DVDDecrypter to burn the output image".

The point I was trying to make is that you could use Dvdshrink 3.17 to shrink the movie and burn it all in one program. There is no need to launch nero separately, because the burning engine has been put into shrink.

gitreel, are you sure about that,

i thought that shrink uses nero or dvddecrypter to burn

    Twomilepost,
What burner software came with your dvd burner ? use that (you do have a dvd burner right)

or if you have nero use that with dvdshrink or get DVDdecrypter (its free) and use that to burn using dvdshrink

Hmm, just for fun I opened a DVD in DVDShrink 3.17, went to preferences and enabled burning with Nero. When I hit backup I was informed "To enable burning, please install Nero". Guess it ain't in Shrink.

    Hi there,

I think that to use Nero with DVD Shrink, you need to have Nero installed. Shrink is making calls to the Nero engine, but it does not install nero for you.

I can't see nero giving away the engine for free (Be nice if they did thugh)

    kosekjm

BTW, never tried burning with DVD Decrypter as I have Nero on my machine. It works great with Shrink 3.1.7

OK forgive me, you must have nero installed. But once you do, shrink will do it all.

  19. Hello There: Why would you want to use DVD SHRINK with Xcopy? DVD X COPY makes 1:1 BACKUPS of your DVD movies. You don't need anything else. DVD SHRINK is excellent also. It just doesn' t have a burn engine with it. I prefer DVD DECRYPTER, DVD2ONE and IMGTOOL in conjunction with each other. LATER.

I do not understand why anyone would use dvd x copy. You have to pay for a program that does half as good as the ones that are free. Read my lips.......Dvd X Copy suxxxxxxxx......

Use dvdshrink, then do what BIGTIME said, burn with dvd decrypter. You can set it to do this. and both are free.

you did not read my earlier post, you must have nero installed. then shrink uses nero, thus burning it all at once, saving having to open nero separately.

  28. Just wanted to thank everyone for the information even the ones who confused me even more. I think it is clear to everyone that I wasted my money last year buying x copy but that was last year, now its shrink, dvd decrypter or nero. Thanks from the newbe

Here is the true low down. Dvd X Copy the ripper version is one of the best shrinking software available. Much better quality than dvd shrink. All you need for burning a single layer (5) dvd is Dvd Decrypter. It does a perfect 1 to 1 copy. Yes if you shrink with another program and use Decrypter to burn it is very high quality.
