I encoded a 45 minute TV episode with DIVX 5.0.1 and with DIVX 5.1.1,and got two wildly different file sizes. The 5.1.1 produced a file of 688MB's,but the 5.0.1 produced a file that was 340MB's. Why would I get such wildly different file sizes,I used the same bitrate settings?

Compression factor. Different versions of divx compress differently.
Try divx mpeg4 and compress the same video to ~100meg.Cheers, Jim
