What's the full filename? Is ts-sws the name or the extension?

  5. I think that the sws is part of the file name, the extension is almost certainly avi. I am betting on this file being some sort of screener or cam.

Judging from all of his past posts, I'm thinking yes. I was gonna give him the benefit of the doubt, though.

Try AVICodec instead of GSpot but you probably have a duff file.
I suspect the filename goes something like 'moviename.TS-sms.avi'

It does, you just can't see it. You have filename extensions set to be hidden. You also have notepad as your default viewer for avi's, which is just bizarre. Go check out the SVCD-to-DVD conversion guides. They'll tell you what you need to do.

There's nothing you can do then. Delete it and go get on with something else.
EDIT forget that posted before your post came through.

If you goto say 'My Documents' and click on tools at the top and select 'folder options'. Click the view tab and uncheck the box which says ' Hide extensions for known file types ' .
Then you can see what the file extensions are.

    sWs is Scene WhoreS.

We usually punish those who talk about warez. Warez includes non legal downloaded movies.

Use DVD2Avi, import your mpeg2 file and create a project file. This spits out a .d2v file and an mpa file with the correct audio delay information. If wanted to you could use avisynth with the d2v file to throw in a couple of noise filters and a resize filter. Considering we know what the file is and where came from, the quality is well...

Import the d2v file into TMPG and encode away.

Check the guides for how to use DVD2Avi, and for proper VFAPI installation.

If it's mpg1 (352x240), don't bother, not worth it, or use Virtualdub then either frame serve, or resave as an avi. <- Check the guides for how to frame serve with V-Dub.
