  2. What do you mean what kind of player do you need? if you want to create a slide show to play on a dvd player than it has to read vcd or dvdr/w. You can created a slide show on either of the two. Hope this helps.

You need to author your jpg images into a slideshow, as x21x mentioned. But it does not need to read DVDR/RW as he suggests ....just VCD which is CD-R/RW. Most fairly new players read CD-R and CD-RW just fine. VCD support is common, SVCD support less common but still out there.

Check through the players section along the left of the screen and you can compare compatibility with the different media.

  4. Hi x21x and Capmaster
Thanks for the reply I will have to convert my J-Pegs into a slide show. Do you know if I will be able to get enough on a CD or will I require a DVD writer instead.

  5. Buy yourself a cheap DVD player that will play jpegs burnt to CD or DVD as data. Thats what I did mine will even play them as a slideshow rotate them flip them mirror them zoom in and pan, and it only cost £37. I bought it specifically for viewing my jpeg photos. No messing around with authoring discs as slideshows just burn them as jpegs to the cd and view, simple.

  6. Thanks Craig
So that means a CD with J-Peg photos saved to it in windows XP will play on a DVD player that plays J-Pegs, that sounds the easiest way to go.
What make of player did you buy?.

Yes thats right, mine was an akura which I bought locally you would probrably have trouble sourcing one. Check the DVD player compatability list and search for all players with jpeg support and check out their reviews.

Here is a thread I posted on my player a little while back.

  8. Yan, one of my players will do that as well. It's an Apex AD-1200 and will play JPEGs and MPEGs burnt as data, it will display a list you can select from. It has folder mode, repeat folder, repeat one and shuffle play. Organize your files in folders and name them. Too easy.

Your chances are best with the cheap Chinese-made players. Got mine for about $40 a year and a half ago. Models change so frequently my specific model number won't help you, look for a cheapie with JPEG support.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

  9. But it does not need to read DVDR/RW
yes I know that its not necessary for the dvd player to read DVDR/RW, but it sure is an advantage. Also, Yan might have a million pictures which would fit nicely into a DVD rather than a vcd. I have a pioneer player that plays these formats, but I have also heard that the cheap Apex players also work pretty good.

  10. My primary DVD player at the workbench is still an Apex AD-1100W, and it plays everything.

Figure if you can buy it for less than £50 and it's a name you've never heard of, you're safe.

With Nero Vision Express 2 you can make your own slideshow with jpeg's (and other) + audio and burn it in any format (SVCD,VCD,DVD) on every standard (+/-/RAM) with menus and the lot, and play it on a standalone DVD-player.
