  1. hello, need help fast.

We just got a standalone DVD recorder Luxor (LUXDVR1203).
This works fine, but I want to copy the DVD+RWs it produces on my NEC recorder on my coputer.
I am unable to run it throught DVD Shrink (and other dvd copy progs) as I get a message about 'navigational problems'. I try to copy out the files but the last VOB file can't be copied.
The DVD+RW works fine on other standalone players, only my computer does not like the last VOB, I have tried several disks.

Why doesen't the Luxor write standard DVD format disks? I find files in there (a secound dir) that should not be there. Is there a way to 'finalize' or 'close' the dvd-rw so that I can copy it?

On the Luxor I can 'make compatible' but that doesen't do any difference concerning this problem.

I need to know if this is an issue with all standalone recorders. If not, we'll get another, if yes... well...
    I am very disappointed.

Pleace help! As we have to return the Luxor in a few days...

Sounds like it might be an incompatible file format ...maybe proprietary. I'm not familiar with Luxor so I don't know.

Only DVD-R and DVD+R can be "finalized". I would suggest trying this:

    1) Try it with a finalized DVD-R.

    2) Check your standalone recorder options and make sure that you're recording in the DVD-Video format. I've only heard of .VRO files when a DVD-RW or DVD-RAM is recorded on a standalone.

  3. Thanks for you reply, I'll test a DVD+R later today. Do I have to accept that I cannot copy DVD+RWs made on a standalone recorder? any info on this?

Here's the content of the DVD+RW:

    Dir VIDEO_RM

    -SONATA.IFO
    -SONATA_DEBUG.IFO
    -VIDEO_RM.BUP
    -VIDEO_RM.DAT
    -VIDEO_RM.IFO

    Dir VIDEO_TS

    -VIDEO_TS.BUP
    -VIDEO_TS.IFO
    -VIDEO_TS.VOB
    -VTS_01_0.BUP
    -VTS_01_0.IFO
    -VTS_01_1.VOB
    -VTS_01_2.VOB
    -VTS_01_3.VOB
    -VTS_01_4.VOB
    -VTS_01_5.VOB

Cannot copy VTS_01_0.BUP as it is "corrupted or does not exist" same goes for VTS_01_5.VOB.

When attepting to open disc in DVD Shrink 3.1: DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot contiue. Invalid navigation structure

Could I only copy that VOB I'd be helped, but...
DVD Lab says: Cannot open file, File in use? (about the 5th VOB file)

This is very annoyoing, any suggestions are are greatly appreciated.

I can't speak for DVD-RW but I can copy DVD+RW discs recorded on my Philips DVDR75 to my laptop no problem using DVD Decrypter.

The .BUP file is a backup file- it's exactly the same as the .IFO file with the same name. If it's corrupted you can make a copy of the VTS_01_0.IFO file in another folder, rename the copy to VTS_01_0.BUP and move that back to the VIDEO_TS folder.

Can't help you with .VOB problem.

  6. Sorry everyone it's DVD+RW... I have now changed my first posts.

Thanks BobK this worked, now the only complaint Nero has is that damn VOB file... the DVD+RW works fine on my Thomson standalone....

Have you tried DVDDecrypter to copy the vob file? I've had some files that it would get 30-40 errors trying to copy and then it would get it. Others times it won't work either, but it might be worth a try.
