  1. I have two files, both are DVD MPEG2 compliant which I encoded with TMPGENC. I deleted the original AVI's after conversion. When I went to join them with TMPGENC an error said that I cannot join these 2 files, they are different. I noticed that by accident I converted 1 file in 4:3 and the other in 16:9, I want it to be 16:9, is there any way to change this without having to re-encode the entire file???? Please I hope there is, I can't beleive I missed that, all that time wasted......

Thanks to all that take the time to help me with this, I really appreciate it.

    Hi averyisiah,

When you encode, part of that encoding is the aspect ratio (4:3 or 16:9). SO, if you've encoded to 4:3 in error, then (IMO) I'd say that there's now way around it other than to re-encode from the source to 16:9 ratio.

BUt, as you've binned your original (lesson learned there - we've all done it!) I think (don't know for sure) you may be able to use TMPGEnc to re-encode the MPEG2 in 4:3 to MPEG2 in 16:9. If you can, I don't know what the resultant quality will be like.

    Good luck.

dvdpatcher can change the AR settings in mpg files - might solve your problem (depends weather tmpec added the black bars on the 4:3)
