  2. It sounds like your DVD player doesn't like SVCDs...

    bambam,

If your player doesn't handle SVCDs officially, then it may be what Indolikaa said. However, if it does, there may be some bitrate or audio contraints.

And even if it does, it may not like the media. I had a Panasonic RV31 that played VCDs, but hated CDRs. It gave the same symptoms you described or didn't even recognize the disc. Once I used CDRWs everything was fine. I've never made SVCDs but am familiar with what they are having created more than my share of VCDs.

So, make sure your using media that your player likes, and, make sure it can handle the video bitrate (>2500? >3500?) and audio (vbr? cbr? mp2?) that you're creating them with. If not, simple things to change if you know what your player can handle.
    Have a good one,

  4. My player can play SVCD because I did about 20 of them and my player still play them properly. I also use the same kind of CDR and those were working properly on my DVD player.

So you think it might be a bitrate issue ? What bitrate should I use to have less chance to get problems. And what audio format should i use ?

  5. Good question.

My understanding was SVCD is 2520 kbps video bitrate, but other references show it as 2600. I've never had any problems if I stay at or below 2520.

    What bitrate were you using?

  6. I think it is 1600 the default value in TMPGEnc

  7. Is a value of 1600 bitrate for a SVCD can cause this kind of problem ?
