i hope this posting does not bring me to page 5 or Andyp1 and Roderz will never let me live it down

I do not understand how you use toolame and tmpgenc at the same time. I went to read about toolame but found a small file to download, this is not an actual software? How is it used in conjunction with tmpgenc.

How can I printer-friendly print off all these pages of postings???

It is too real software. I use it all the time. In TMPG go to environmental Settings, audio engine. It is an encoder. Make sure you direct TMPG to this executable file.

you might have gone the long way round but you have done every step (at least once) if not in the right order.

(I wonder if the audio is going to be in sync )
ahhhh Roderz you opened another can of worms.

    d. encode mp2 - i am encoding with tmpgenc and it's output file is an mpg.

and what if the audio is out of sync??? OMG!!!! you are freaking me out now. lol don't leave me hanging.

    ok!!

not sure which toolame to download, the page has many of them.

I will try this if tmpgenc author does not take my wav and if the audio is out of sync.

keeping too many trains of thoughts at same time, getting a little lost.

i was told not to demux when saving an mp3 to a wav, just save it as a wav.

The output of the mpg if demuxed, will be m2v, and mp2

LOL sometimes I am so smart I am stoopid.

The reason why I could not author my avi file was because... cough cough, yes I am admiting this.... because it was not finished encoding yet. Ooops.

    It just the terminology

put simply - Demux just means seperate the audio from the video.

Remux means joining the audio and video together.

So for an Xvid with mp3 audio you would seperate the audio and convert it to a .wav
or Demux and save as wav.

    oh oh !!!

well one worked perfect. the one that was avi > mpg and the audio was ac3

as for the avi > mpg that audio was mp3 converted to wav . . . well the damn file is too big.

dvdshrink didn't really help - only good for dvd files. i need to shrink it before authoring

    NO stop wait
author the dvd (yes its going to be to big - do not try and burn it).
Then run dvd shrink on the author'd folder - lot quicker then encoding again.

DVD Shrink can do it. Once you have your VIDEO_TS folder you can use Shrink.

    Open DVD Shrink
    Open File
Find your VIDEO_TS folder you have just created
    IT will scan the folder
    Set the compression to custom
Drag the slider to the left till the file size is small enough to fit on a DVD-R
    Hit Back-Up

    Voila

    Correct.

I think it will be a lot more than 5 pieces of paper.
I hope youve plenty of ink.

Printer setings - landscape instead of portrait
or copy & paste into word

I am using DVDshrink 1.02. I do not have all those options you mentioned. Which version are you using and from where did you get it?

    EEEEEH .... Wendi ...

Well your typing skills will be improved ... your reading skills will be improved ...

Your supply of printer INK will be lower ... your paper supply will be lower.

But all in all ... your learning ...

But now ... do you understand ... why I just use InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2 ... he he. And you get to output the audio to AC-3 when converting.

Not to confuse ... But you can also use Nero Recode 2 ... to shrink the final results.

Or you can use ... InterVideo DVDCopy 1.2b.

Dont use version 2.0 ... it leaves artifacts and pixelated images.

Reason to suggest InterVideo DVDCopy 1.2b ... is because I've made some projects with TMPGEnc DVD Author ... that were really big ... and DVDShrink and Nero Recode 2 ... didn't accept them.

But ... InterVideo DVDCopy 1.2b ... did accept the challenge with success.

Hang onto version 1.02 ... there has been times when I had to use version 1.02 ... this version wont analyze the DVD-VOB files when it first starts up.

The newer DVDshrinks ... do ... and if you have a mistake in the DVD Rip ... the newer DVDshrinks ... will stop.

next: pal > ntsc. I will have to harrass roderz for that one.

Thank you for helping this canadian chickie. I owe a huge thanks to andyp1, roderz, lacywest ... if I forgot to mention any, I thank you too, lol, can't see all 5 pages right now to see who helped me.
