  1. Ok, it's been a while since I've copied any of my home videos from my Sony Mini DV camera to the pc and I've got to get caught up.

I'm looking to see if there are any better (i.e. quicker) methods for getting that Mini DV from my camera to my DVD's.

So, would some of you care to share what methods you're now using to do this?

I use to capture it with Pinnacle Studios in .avi format and then encode it with tmpgenc and that got to be a long process.

    Thanks!

  2. If it's not outside your budget, get a DVD recorder. Doesn't get any quicker than that.
Otherwise, use an all-in-one tool, like Sonic MyDVD or Ulead MF. Speed may come at a cost of quality though.

  3. Thanks for the suggestion, but not looking for a dvd recorder yet.

I'm just looking at the pc way right now

I guess one of the other questions I meant to ask, is there a program out there that will take it right off the mini dv camera (via my firewire) and convert it to a dvd burnable format with good quality as it takes it from the camera to the hard drive? One of the programs you suggested my do that, I will check on it.

    Thanks again,
