    I know little about this format. I have a midi ringtone that my phone wont import. I need to trim the length. I am looking for an easy to use editor.
    Will sound forge work?If not ,any thoughts on freeware?

    check out Jazz - freeware, light system requirements, should be able to edit your file.

    midi is like an old school piano roll - it's a file that tells another piece of hardware or software "play this note at this time, for this long".
