A weird question, but I'm sure somebody will have the answer for me. It's been years since I saw this movie, and need some help.

In the scene where the toys go crazy, what did the monkey with the cymbals look like?

    The classic stile:

    or the repro stile:

I think I want to get one, and put it in my office with either a random cycle, or maybe a proximity sensor to turn it on.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  3. Thats a good idea Village. I remember a long long time ago, ( I had to be around 5 years old or something....so only 17 years ago I guess) seeing that monkey play those cymbals.

For some reason I have this vague memory of that monkey playing the cymbals and whenever he did, something bad would happen. I thought it was a Steven King movie or something. But I guess it is from Close Encounters by Spielberg.

Why do I have this memory of it being a King movie and that monkey was associated with evil and it would play randomly and evil things would happen. Was it used in more than one movie?

If you find how to do it, let me know......I think it would be sweet to freak people out or them thinking it was possesed. However, I don't want to jack your idea.

    Good Luck.

  5. I saw Close Encounters way back when it was originally released...but hell if I can remember
I don't think I've seen it since then.

Hatz, you might be thinking of Puppet Master or Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders
There was also Monkey Shines but that was a real monkey - not a toy.

  9. I don't remember name of the movie, but I saw that in a 1980's horror flick where a house was possesed by poltergiests or demons. The monkey was in this little boys bedroom and would start clashing the cymbals together...... This chick (I think the guys wife) got trapped in the shower and the water turned boiling hot.... Freaky film

Looks demonic though bro, Sure you want one ??? How about a Naked Geeks poster instead (I heard the prices are LOW)

  12. Now this is a creepy version of that monkey.

Thanks for the info. However, did they ever make this into a movie or anything? Cause I am pretty sure I never read this book when I was really little. Maybe a made for TV movie or something......but imdb.com doesn't list anything about it.

I have a vague recollection of something about that monkey playing his cymbals and then a storm brewing or something. Also they might have been on a lake or a cabin on a lake or something.......not too sure though. In fact I think there might have been some part where the kid or someone buried the monkey but it ends up coming back.

Man trying to remember things as a kid is tough.....hehehe. Thanks again for all the help.
