I extracted audio from a CD withing Cool Edit, but can't do it currently.
The only difference is that Daemon tools has been installed since then..
IT's as if the the audio extraction screen is locked somehow...

    Thanx.....

I've had CoolEdit for years and I never had the capability to extract audio from a CD. Maybe you used a different program for that. I use NERO to do the extractions.

...or CDEx, or Exact Audio Copy (EAC) or CDDA2WAV or... There are many free tools that can accomplish what you want.

This is an easy fix. Un-install and re-install Cool Edit. When give the option to choose which audio files you want to be able to read or edit, be sure there is a check mark in the CDA file extension. You'll be good to go then.
