  1. I've encoded a few AVI files to Mpeg 2 which I believe is a standard DVD format using Tmpge but for some strange reason they all stutter. Thinking it was Cpu not up to speed I upgraded everything to-

    AMD Athlon 2600xp +
    512 DDRam
    New board
    (Basicly it got the works)

but it still does it, has anybody any suggestions that could solve this problem I got?

    Flip in RESTREAM.

If that won't work, you may have to start over. Happens.

I'm with Foo on this one , It sounds like you have an NTSC source and are converting to PAL and getting the usual judder .
A little more info on your source file and intended output would be helpful.

A slow CPU will only increase encoding times, not affect the quality of the output. So for anyone else... cross that off your list of possible problems.

    Video

    Frame Rate = 23 Frames/Second

Proper NTSC to PAL conversion is a major headache.
Most UK players are happy with NTSC so try conversion to NTSC Mpeg , Burn it and try it on your standalone to see if it plays OK.

I always Keep NTSC as NTSC and PAL as PAL . No playback problems and no juddering .

I am assuming of course that you are in UK or Europe.

Just select the NTSC template in TMPGenc , don't forget Keep aspect ratio and encode.

I use TMPGenc Plus . The only enviromental setting is to set the DirectShow Multimedia File reader to a higher priority. See pic.
