  1. I'm burning DVDs on my Mac for small quantity distribution. (like <20) The DVD forum site reads like I can't use the DVD logo on the discs unless they are verified for $5000. Am I reading this wrong? Can't I just use the logo since I'm burning the DVD's on a machine that has been licensed? I mean, how else am I going to let people know the DVD is a DVD? Why would anyone buy a drive if they couldn't use it to make DVDs and label them as such?

I should think this would be a popular question, but searched and didn't find anything. Sorry if it's already been addressed often.

you can put a label on the disc that says DVD - but using the DVD Forum's logo would be infringement - you don't have the right to use it without paying.

My avatar is the image I use when I use one. If you look closely you can see "DVD" between the lightning and the flames. It is easier to see in the larger version.

  9. i'll try to make something nice.
I think a good logo should be able to be shown in only 2 solid colors. Anything more is not a logo. In my opinion.

  12. From the DVD Format/Logo Licensing Corp. website:
    http://www.dvdfllc.co.jp/faq.htm

The only Logo that may appear on an authored disc is the Logo that shows the type of disc it originally was; DVD-R, DVD-RW, etc.
Sounds like it'd be alright if you put a dvd r/rw logo on there.
