  1. Hi everyone,

    need a bit of help, i've just bought a new camcorder (my first one ever) its a jvc GR-D30u, the camcorder picture on the tv is great, however if i try to upload to the pc the picture is poor it pixelates if thats the right word, is there any software to correct this, or do i need to do something with the computer. i'm running windows xp,

    cheers for any help.

    ps someone said something about codecs???

    What method are you suing to transfer the footage to your PC? Done correctly it is a straight transfer via the firewire port and you should get a very large avi file, something like 13 GB per hour, and it should look exactly like what is on your tape. Install a DV codec if you haven't already.

  3. thanks zippy it was all my fault, i did not change the settings from mpeg to AVI got a quite good picture now.

    Mpeg on the fly (during transfer) is usually not as good as using a dedicated encoder later.
