  1. I have the DVD files on my computer (.vob files etc)

I use DVD Shrink to backup this DVD by adding the .vob files etc... it starts the encoding and etc and completes the burning.

But when I try to play the DVD-R on my DVD-Player (supports DVD-R) I get the following message on the display: INVALID TITLE

And at the end I get the message that there is no DVD in the player.

    Whats wrong?

You need to be a bit more descriptive. What's the process, to hard drive first or directly from DVD? Full disk or reauthor? What media? What DVD player?

Is this yuor first attempt or had other dvds worked?

Just because it supports DVD-R, doesn't mean it will play every DVD-R. In fact, some are so finicky they only play one or two brands of DVD-R. Does it play on your computer in PowerDVD or WINDVD? Does it play in a friends player?

  4. I have tried several times, but it has never worked.

I have a VIDEO_TS folder that contains a lot of .VOB .IFO .BUP

I want to burn this to a DVD-R so that I can play the movie on my standalone dvd-player.

I use DVD Shrink, open the folder (VIDEO_TS) and press the BACKUP button, and it starts to encode and burn it to the cd.
BUT, when i put the DVD-R in my standalone dvd-player I get the message: INVALID TITLE.

  6. try double-clicking on one of the 1G vob files from the titleset (in Win Explorer) that Shrink created and see if your PC dvd player can play it (your player i assume is already associated with the vob filetype) . if it does there is something wrong with the navigational structure of your dvdr; thus your PC player (and of course the stand-alone player) cannot play it from the very beginning.
    BTW please explain this
I use DVD Shrink to backup this DVD by adding the .vob files
. if you literally did this you used Shrink incorrectly; Shrink has no way to directly deal with vob files.

  7. also can your pc player play the original vob files on your HDD?

  8. I tried to open the .VOB files with my DVD-Player with Power DVD and it worked. So it's something with DVD Shrink

  9. I tried to open the .VOB files with my DVD-Player with Power DVD and it worked
    unclear what you did.
Was this the ORIGINAL vob file(s) or the Shrunken one(s)? did you play it from the beginning in PowerDVD or as i suggested by double-click on a vob in Explorer?
okay, after re-reading an earlier post of yours i assume you can play back the original movie on your PC, not the Shrunken version. now please answer my second question.

  10. You should really think about reading one of the many guides here about correctly using DVDshrink... They're really descriptive in explaining how to so certain tasks, and Im sure they'll help.

    Qbat,
You tell us you have a VIDEO_TS folder.
Look if you have an AUDIO_TS folder too. If not, I believe that´s your problem.

  16. well, you got me . i have found that if the filesize is less than 4.0G i cannot get it to play. BTW what version of Shrink are you using? if you already have not try v3.0 beta5. i've found it to be the most reliable of all of them, including the lastest 3.17. only thing it cannot do is accept output for TMPG DVD Author. good luck.

Use this guide. You can't go wrong.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  19. Have you tried using different media? Tell us what media you are using, often times that alone is the biggest issue. I know it's hard to believe but very true.

I hate to be blunt, but it doesn't work because you are doing something wrong.

We need to be able to eliminate certain areas as causes of your problems. It could be the media, the burning method, the transcoding method and/or the ripping method that is the cause of your problems.
    If in doubt, Google it.
