Hi, I have the Optorite 201 and I see a new firmware has been released.
I am tempted to update to 2.50 from 2.30 even though everything is working fine. The only problem is that out of every 25 pack of blank dvdrs I usually lose 5 to 7 per pack, even though they look absolutely fine. As a result, I thought updating the firmware might help. If I use XP's
rollback will it work if the update goes wrong? Thanks.

no, it doesn't
if u need to return to the previous firmware you'll have 2 do it is DOS mode -
I use the 2.30 firmware on my rebadged 203 and don't plan on changing anytime soon. What you're experiencing could just as easily be media related. If you back off from burning to the very edge and the problem lessens or goes away, your media is the probable culprit. Or it could be your overall procedure, a junked up comp, even your burning app.
Can you elaborate on why you think it might be the firmware? Have you been able to narrow down the possibilities at all?Pull! Bang! Darn! -
I have a Optorite dd0201 and I'm using firmware 2.17 - I've had no problems with media. *Works -don't fix it*
I had a DD0203 and did the accidental "double click" firmware update drive killer. So I'm a little gun shy of the firmware update anyway, I would do it if I HAD to.
I'm not sure a 2.30 to 2.50 would "fix" anything, IMHO
