  1. I hear alot about updating firmware. I have a tredex 3000 and found firmware updates on the tredex hoempage. to install those would i just burn the updates to disc and play them in my dvd player? Is there any risk in udating firmware?

But, if you revisit their site, get the instructions, read them, print them out and read them again, then install, reading each step as you flash, you should be alright.

Anyone can screw up, a car can shear off a utility pole as you flash, shutting down the computer, you may still ba able to recover, the site's directions may even tell you what to do in case of error.

Don't let a negative answer put you down. So many people have done it already that you know it is not rocket science.

    Give it a shot.

    Cheers,

    George

  5. I believe he's talking about a StandAlone DVDplayer, not a DVDdrive....anyway....I do believe that as long as you're careful and follow the instruction, it will be alrite....One of the thing you don't wanna do is shut the power off when it's updating....Good luck....

Do not upgrade frmware unless you konw what you're doing. For dvd pc drives: there are many softwares to fix the region "thing"; region would be the only one reason for upgrading firmware. For standalone dvds....I don't see the advantage of upgrading the firmware. If you don't know what you're doing, just do not do it.
