I know that the DCR-PC109 shoots in 16x9, but I was wondering if the DCR-HC40 does also? [which would make it the perfect camera for my 'rents] ....
does anyone happen to know?
? Thanks for any help.

There is a link to the manual at http://im2.onecall.com/Image_Products/Sony/DCRHC40_man.pdf
Page 68 has the details of how it works. It looks like it does record an anamorphic image that is marked as 16:9.
