I am capturing using MJpeg codec and would like advice on what sound codec to use . Pcm seems to be the prefered one but is there one that will give the similar resultes but a smaller overall file size.

    Thanks

  2. PCM isn't so much a codec as it is simply the raw data. It is completely uncompressed, and is also known as WAV or CD Audio.

If you're capturing, I wouldn't suggest trying to compress the audio into a format such as MP3 at the same time. It may cause your machine to drop frames due to a lack of CPU power, so you'd swap a little space on your hard drive for a poor or flawed capture.

Also, I found that when using Morgan MJPEG Codec, the quality of 90 was the best balance between space and quality. Just a tip.
